Why grind salt wet?
Salt crystals naturally have irregular, sharp edges, and dry mechanical crushing tends to preserve them. Free-flowing salt needs smooth, rounded, uniform grains. In hydro milling, the brine/salt mixture enters the wet mill; the high-speed rotor with star-shaped hammers and serrated breaker plates grinds the crystals, and a perforated stainless steel screen working with the brine sets the particle size, rounds off the crystals, removes sharp corners and washes out impurities such as mud.
Key features

- Stainless steel perforated slotted or round-hole screens.
- Hydro milling gives spherical salt crystals.
- Dynamically balanced rotor.
- Whizzer blades keep brine out of the bearings.
- Complete SS-304/316 construction or MS with SS lining.
- Six standard models.

Speed depends on application. Specifications and design are subject to change without notice for improvement. Capacity depends on material, feed size, moisture and required fineness.
Where it is used
The wet hammer mill is the milling heart of salt washeries, salt refineries and upgradation plants, ahead of centrifuging, drying, iodisation and packing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a hydro mill?
Another name for a wet mill: salt is ground together with purified brine instead of dry.
Can the wet hammer mill be used for materials other than salt?
It is specifically engineered for wet salt grinding. For other wet applications, share the material details and we will advise.
