Recommended mills
| Product | Machine | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Powder coatings, toners | Air Classifier Mill | Independent classifier for narrow PSD; jacketed chamber; air-purged classifier |
| Green pigment, red oxide, ultramarine blue, fluorescent powder | Turbo Classifier Mill | Screenless spiral classification, 200–450 mesh |
| Dyes, metallic oxides, titanium oxide, carbon black | Whirlpul Micronizer | Turbulence grinding at low temperature |
| Paints and pigments (general) | Micro Pulverizer | Simple screened fine grinding |
Why temperature control matters
Powder coatings contain resins that soften with heat. The air classifier mill’s high air volume and jacketed chamber, or chilled inlet air, keep the product below its softening point so it does not smear, agglomerate or pre-react.
Changeovers
Colour changes demand fast, thorough cleaning. Air-purged classifiers and quick-clean designs reduce downtime and cross-contamination.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the air classifier mill run with inert gas?
Yes, closed-loop operation with nitrogen or another inert gas is possible for potentially explosive dusts.
