Construction and operation
- Thick steel plates with internal stiffeners; strong foundation ribs.
- Shaft on self-aligning bearings; ribbon angle tuned for ideal mixing.
- Liquids trickle through a perforated tray above the blend (or spray nozzles) for even distribution; handles viscous additions such as molasses up to about 10%.
- Dust-proof design with stuffing boxes on both sides to protect bearings.
- Bottom sliding discharge gate plus inspection/cleaning openings on top or sides.
Agitator designs
- Paddle – for coarse ingredients and pre-mixing.
- Single ribbon – smooth mixing of medium-to-fine ingredients.
- Double ribbon – opposing helical ribbons for the fastest, most uniform blending.
- Central spiral ribbon – outer ribbons plus a central spiral flight for maximum uniformity.
Special configurations
- Jacketed troughs for heating with water, oil or steam — for oily blends like spices or batters
- Pneumatic discharge gates for faster cycles
- Liquid/molasses mixers for feed binders
- Laboratory/baby models in MS or SS with tilting body

Is a ribbon blender the same as a horizontal mixer?
A ribbon blender is a type of horizontal mixer that uses helical ribbons in a U-trough. Premium Pulman also offers paddle agitators in the same horizontal body.
Do you make vertical or sigma mixers?
Our standard mixing range is horizontal ribbon and paddle mixers. For other mixer types, please send your requirement.
