Principle of operation
The rotor and blower fan are both driven by the main shaft. Multi-edged beaters grind the material against serrated conical liners by shear, turbulence and impact. An adjustable classifier gap plate controls the airflow: the blower draws air and product out of the chamber and sends it to the cyclone. Changing the gap plate changes the airflow and therefore the fineness; once set, the output stays consistent. The mill is best for soft and brittle materials of Mohs hardness 3 or less, with a recommended maximum feed size of 6 mm.
Construction details
- Multi-edged beaters on a dynamically balanced rotor; sealed, lubricated bearings; V-belt drive.
- Serrated conical liners increase grinding area versus straight liners and are easy to replace.
- Classifier (gap) plates to raise or lower airflow; many applications run without a gap plate.
- Water cooling jacket for heat-sensitive products.
- Motors on a base frame with slide rails; optional AC variable drive for tip speed and variable feed drive.
Configurations
Lab model PTCM-5 (Baby) – 200 mm rotor, 5 HP, manual feed, bottom gravity discharge, 20–25 kg/hr, space 1700×500×2000 mm. Ideal for small batches.
Standard dust collection system – mill with classifier gap plate, fan, cyclone and fabric dust collector on stands, with Y-piece and/or rotary airlock at the cyclone.
Pulse air-jet dust collector with electric mimic panel – for extremely fine, dusty, expensive or pungent materials; self-cleaning bags, solenoid valves and timer, airlock at the dust collector outlet, and a panel with ammeters, relays and starters for near-automatic operation.

Values are indicative; fineness generally ranges from 75 to 37 microns. Specifications and design are subject to change without notice for improvement. Capacity depends on material, feed size, moisture and required fineness.
Cool grinding and drying options
For cool grinding, a chilling plant can be connected in line: ambient air is cooled by about 20 °C before entering the mill with the feed, absorbing grinding heat. For high-moisture or hygroscopic materials, a hot air generator can preheat the inlet air instead.
Applications
Ayurvedic herbs, broken biscuit, catalysts, cellulose, chemicals, china clay, dyes and intermediates, fibre opening, fish feed, fluorescent powder, gelatin, glucose, gram dal, green pigment, ibuprofen, jeera, milk powder, neem seed, paracetamol, pesticides, phenolic resin, potassium carbonate, precipitated silica, red oxide, salt, chilli and other spices, sugar, tea waste, turmeric, urad dal and ultramarine blue. For very fine chilli powder, the turbo classifier mill with reverse pulse air-jet dust collector is the recommended finishing mill.

Frequently Asked Questions
What fineness can the turbo classifier mill reach?
Typically 200–450 mesh (about 75–37 µm), depending on the material. On sugar, Premium Pulman rates it down to roughly 10 µm for dairy icing sugar.
What materials are not suitable?
Hard, abrasive materials above Mohs 3 and feed larger than 6 mm should be pre-crushed or ground in a different mill.
Can I test my material before buying?
Yes. All twelve pulverizer types, including the turbo classifier mill, are installed in our demonstration room in Ahmedabad for trials on your sample.
